On Sunday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and US President Donald Trump had long talks at Mar-a-Lago. Trump said that the ukraine peace talks were in a “potentially decisive” phase in the diplomatic efforts to end the war in Ukraine. The meeting took place while Kyiv was still being attacked by missiles and dealing with freezing winter weather. This showed how different the situation on the ground was from the diplomatic talks going on in other countries.

Even though there wasn’t any immediate progress, the tone of Sunday’s meeting was different from some previous ones. Ukraine Peace Talks Enter a Critical Phase

Trump has said many times that he is unhappy with how slowly the talks are going. He said during the 2024 presidential campaign that he could end the war within a day of taking office. He has said that the job is much harder than he thought it would be since he got back to the White House.
